Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000405
A method of wood-frame construction where continuous studs extend from the sill plate to the roof plate, spanning two or more stories. Floor joists are then nailed to the sides of these long studs. This technique was prevalent in the 19th century but has largely been replaced by platform framing due to fire safety concerns and the difficulty of handling long studs.
