Ashlaring
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000283
The installation of short, vertical studs or framing members that extend from the floor joists to the underside of the rafters in an attic space. This technique creates a vertical wall section, reducing the effective height of the attic and forming a more usable, plumb surface for finishing. Ashlaring is often used to create knee walls in attic conversions, providing space for insulation and drywall.
