Bandit

An aircraft identified as hostile, as opposed to a bogey, which is an unidentified aircraft. The term originates in military aviation and is used during air combat maneuvering and intercepts to communicate a confirmed threat. Positive identification is required before an aircraft can be declared a bandit, a process governed by specific rules of engagement.
