Relating to actions, communications, or systems operating between two or more airborne aircraft, as opposed to between an aircraft and the ground. This includes military applications like air-to-air combat and missiles, as well as civilian uses such as inter-plane communication or data links for formation flying. Air-to-air refueling is a military procedure where one aircraft transfers fuel to another while both are in flight.
