Barrowman

A worker tasked with transporting materials, such as ore, waste rock, or supplies, using a wheelbarrow in a mine or at a surface works. This role was prevalent in smaller-scale or early mining operations before the introduction of tramways and other mechanical haulage systems. The barrowman provided short-distance transport between the working face, stockpiles, and processing areas, a physically strenuous job requiring strength and endurance.
