A Bank Identifier Code, also known as a SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) code, is a standard format for Business Identifier Codes approved by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It identifies banks and financial institutions globally. A BIC consists of 8 or 11 alphanumeric characters.
