Biconcave
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000544
Describing a lens that is curved inward on both of its faces, making it thinnest at the optical center and thicker at the edges. This shape causes parallel light rays to diverge as if originating from a virtual focal point on the same side of the lens as the light source. Biconcave lenses have a negative focal length and are used to correct myopia (nearsightedness) or to expand light beams in optical systems like Galilean telescopes.
