Biting point
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006799
The specific position in the release of a manual transmission's clutch pedal where the clutch plates start to connect, beginning to transmit engine torque to the drivetrain. As the driver lifts the pedal, this is the point of initial engagement felt just before the vehicle starts to move. The location of the biting point in the pedal's travel changes as the clutch disc wears; a worn clutch has a biting point much higher from the floorboard than a new one.
