Blanking

A sheet metal cutting operation where a punch and die are used to cut out a desired shape from a larger sheet, with the cut-out piece being the desired product. The material surrounding the blank is considered scrap. This process is widely used in manufacturing for producing flat components such as gears, washers, and electrical laminations with high precision.
