Die plate

A hardened steel plate containing one or more shaped orifices, used for forming, cutting, or shaping material. In drawing operations, wire or rod is pulled through the die to reduce its diameter and improve its surface finish. In stamping or punching, the die plate works in conjunction with a punch to shear shapes from sheet metal.
