Browman

A worker stationed at the top of a mine shaft, known as the pit brow or bank, who manages the movement of cages or skips. This individual is responsible for loading and unloading materials, equipment, and personnel into the conveyance system that travels up and down the shaft. The browman communicates with the hoist operator and the workers at the bottom of the shaft to coordinate all hoisting activities safely.
