Skipman

An operator responsible for loading and unloading skips, which are large conveyances used to hoist ore, coal, or waste rock up a mine shaft. This individual coordinates with hoist operators and surface personnel to manage the flow of material. The skipman monitors skip fill levels and signals for hoisting operations, often working at the shaft bottom.
