A Base Station Controller, the network component responsible for controlling a group of Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) in 2G and 3G mobile communication networks. It manages radio resources, including the allocation of radio channels and handovers of calls between different cells controlled by its subordinate stations. The BSC acts as an intermediary, connecting the radio access network to the core network's Mobile Switching Center.
