Bullhead rail

A type of railway track rail characterized by a symmetrical profile with a head and foot of similar shape, connected by a web. This design requires chairs to hold it in place on sleepers, unlike flat-bottomed rail which can be fastened directly. Bullhead rail was widely used in the United Kingdom and other parts of the world, particularly before the mid-20th century.
