Butterfly

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006824

A type of valve characterized by a disc-shaped closure element that rotates on a shaft passing through the center of the pipe. When open, the disc is parallel to the flow, offering minimal resistance; when closed, it is perpendicular to the flow, blocking it. Butterfly valves are commonly used for regulating or isolating flow in large diameter pipelines due to their compact design and quick operation.
