C-bander

An enthusiast or hobbyist who owns and operates equipment for receiving C-band satellite television signals. These individuals often use large dish antennas, known as Big Ugly Dishes (BUDs), to capture a wide variety of unencrypted or free-to-air programming from numerous satellites. C-banders focus on the 3.7 to 4.2 GHz frequency range, which requires larger antennas than the more common Ku-band systems.
