Canoe

A small, narrow, open boat pointed at both ends, propelled by one or more people using single-bladed paddles while facing the direction of travel. Traditional canoes were dugouts or bark-covered frames, and modern ones are made of fiberglass, aluminum, or plastic. A kayak differs in being decked over and paddled with a double-bladed paddle.
