Chew the cud
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001092
The process by which ruminant animals, such as cows and sheep, regurgitate partially digested food from their rumen to re-chew it. This action further breaks down plant material, aiding in digestion and nutrient absorption. The re-chewed food is then swallowed again for final digestion in the other stomach compartments.
