Chicane

An artificial barrier or series of barriers placed on a road or racetrack to create a sharp, S-shaped curve. Its purpose is to force vehicles to slow down, often for safety reasons or to enhance the challenge of a racing circuit. Chicanes are frequently used in temporary street circuits or at dangerous sections of permanent tracks.
