Chvorinov's rule
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001118
A principle in casting that relates the solidification time of a casting to its volume and surface area. It states that the total solidification time is proportional to the square of the ratio of the casting's volume to its surface area. This rule is used to predict solidification times and design risers in sand casting processes.
