Blowhole

A cavity or void within a metal casting, formed by trapped gases during solidification. These imperfections can weaken the casting and reduce its structural integrity. Blowholes are often caused by inadequate venting of molds, excessive moisture in molding sand, or gas evolution from the molten metal itself.
