Colour bar

A strip of standardized color patches printed on the edge of a press sheet, outside the trim area, used to monitor and control print quality during production. These patches allow press operators to measure ink density, dot gain, trapping, and color balance using densitometers or spectrophotometers. A typical color bar includes solid patches of CMYK, overprints, and tints.
