Curly top

A viral plant disease caused by beet curly top virus, which the beet leafhopper, Circulifer tenellus, carries from plant to plant. Infected plants are stunted, with leaves that curl upward, thicken and turn yellow, and sugar beets, tomatoes, beans and peppers lose yield. It is most severe in the arid and semi-arid western United States, where the leafhopper breeds on wild host plants.
