To transfer young plants from a protected environment, such as a greenhouse or cold frame, to their final growing position outdoors. This process is undertaken once the plants are sufficiently hardened off and the risk of frost has passed. The spacing between plants is determined by the mature size of the specific crop or variety being cultivated.
