Cutting

The process of removing material from a workpiece to achieve a desired shape, size, or surface finish. This is accomplished by a cutting tool that shears away chips of material through mechanical force. Common cutting operations include turning, milling, drilling, and grinding, each employing specific tools and machine kinematics.
