Lathe

A machine that shapes a workpiece by rotating it about an axis of rotation while a stationary cutting tool or abrasive is applied. Operations performed include cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, or turning to produce an object with rotational symmetry. The two main types are woodturning lathes for shaping wood and metalworking lathes for machining metal components with high precision.
