Head

A component of a machine tool that holds and rotates the cutting tool or workpiece, or provides a specific function. In a milling machine, the head contains the spindle and motor, driving the cutting tool. On a lathe, the headstock holds and rotates the workpiece, while the tailstock supports its free end.
