High-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line, an early form of DSL technology that provides high-speed data transmission over conventional copper telephone lines. It uses multiple pairs of wires to achieve symmetrical data rates in both upstream and downstream directions. HDSL typically offers speeds up to 2.048 megabits per second.
