Head gasket

A seal positioned between the engine block and the cylinder head in an internal combustion engine. It maintains the compression within the cylinders and prevents the leakage of coolant and engine oil into the cylinders or outside the engine. This component must withstand high temperatures and pressures, typically made from multi-layered steel or composite materials.
