Gasket

A deformable material sheet or ring placed between two stationary, joining surfaces to create a static seal. When compressed, it conforms to surface imperfections, preventing the leakage of fluids or gases from or into the joined assembly. Gaskets are made from a variety of materials, including rubber, cork, metal, and composites, chosen based on the application's temperature, pressure, and chemical environment.
