Pad

A piece of material placed between two surfaces to provide cushioning, support, protection, or a specific functional interface. Pads are made from materials like rubber, felt, foam, or specialized composites, selected for properties such as shock absorption, friction, or thermal insulation. For example, a bearing pad distributes loads and reduces wear between structural components, while a polishing pad holds abrasive compounds for finishing surfaces.
