Flange

A projecting rim, collar, or rib on a component, used for attachment, support, or to increase strength. In piping systems, a flange is a disc-shaped device welded or threaded onto a pipe end, allowing two pipes to be bolted together with a gasket between them to create a sealed joint. Flanges are rated by pressure class, such as ANSI Class 150 or Class 300, indicating their maximum operating pressure.
