V engine

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006393

An internal combustion engine design where the cylinders are arranged in two banks set at an angle to one another, converging at a common crankshaft. This configuration creates a more compact engine block compared to an inline arrangement with the same number of cylinders, allowing it to fit in smaller engine bays. Common configurations include the V6, V8, and V12, with the angle between the cylinder banks typically being 60 or 90 degrees.
