Brake line

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000738

A tube or hose that carries hydraulic brake fluid from the master cylinder to the brake calipers or wheel cylinders in a vehicle's braking system. Brake lines consist of rigid steel tubing for the chassis-mounted sections and flexible, reinforced rubber or braided steel hoses where movement is required, such as at the wheels. These components must withstand high pressures, typically exceeding 1,000 psi, generated during braking.
