Lath

A thin, narrow strip of wood, metal, or plastic used as a backing or support for plaster, stucco, or other building materials. It provides a surface for the finish material to adhere to, creating a strong and durable wall or ceiling. In construction, lath is fastened to framing members before the application of plaster.
