Ribband

A long, narrow strip of material, typically wood or metal, used in shipbuilding or construction to temporarily hold frames or structural members in position during assembly. These strips provide alignment and support until the permanent connections are made. Ribbands are removed once the structure is rigid enough to stand independently.
