Dandy
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006904
A small, unpowered railway truck or cart, historically used to transport horses or workers along a line. In early railways, particularly on horse-drawn tramways, a dandy cart was attached to the rear of the train. Horses would ride in the dandy on downhill sections to conserve their energy, a practice which predates the widespread use of mechanical brakes and steam power.
