Davit

A small crane-like device, often found on ships or offshore platforms, used for lowering and raising equipment, lifeboats, or other small craft. It consists of a pivoted arm or a pair of arms that swing out over the side of the vessel or structure. Davits are rated by their safe working load, which indicates the maximum weight they can lift.
