Diesel multiple unit

A self-propelled train consisting of multiple carriages, where each carriage or a subset of carriages has its own diesel engine for propulsion. This eliminates the need for a separate locomotive, allowing for flexible train configurations and bidirectional operation. DMUs are widely used for passenger services on non-electrified lines.
