Diesel particulate filter

A device installed in the exhaust system of a diesel engine to trap particulate matter, such as soot and ash, from the exhaust gases. The filter periodically regenerates by burning off the accumulated soot. DPFs are a key component in meeting modern emissions standards for diesel vehicles.
