Dot matrix printer

An impact printer that produces characters and graphics by striking an ink-soaked ribbon against the paper with a print head containing a matrix of small pins. Each pin creates a single dot, and combinations of dots form letters and images. These printers are known for their ability to print multi-part forms and their distinctive noise.
