Driving wheel

A wheel on a locomotive or powered railway vehicle that receives power directly from the engine or motor to propel the train. These wheels are typically larger and have a stronger connection to the powertrain than unpowered wheels. The number and diameter of driving wheels affect a locomotive's tractive effort and speed capabilities.
