Dropping point

The temperature at which a lubricating grease becomes fluid enough to drip from a container under standardized test conditions. This property indicates the upper temperature limit for a grease's application, as it loses its structure and ability to lubricate effectively above this point. Test methods such as ASTM D566 and ASTM D2265 specify the apparatus and heating rate for determining this value.
