Dynamic headroom
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001934
The ability of an audio amplifier to output power levels higher than its continuous or rated power for brief durations to reproduce transient peaks in a signal. This capacity allows the amplifier to handle sudden, short-lived demands without clipping or distorting the sound. Dynamic headroom is measured in decibels (dB) as the ratio of the short-term peak power output to the continuous average power output.
