Dynamic ignition timing

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001935

The process of adjusting the precise moment a spark plug fires relative to the piston's position while an engine is running. An engine control unit (ECU) continuously alters the timing based on inputs from sensors monitoring engine speed, load, temperature, and knock. This constant adjustment maintains performance and fuel efficiency across different operating conditions, advancing or retarding the spark from a base setting.
