Basic ignition timing

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000454

The precise moment in the engine's combustion cycle when the spark plug fires, relative to the piston's position. This timing is set to occur before the piston reaches top dead center on the compression stroke, allowing sufficient time for the air-fuel mixture to ignite and burn efficiently. It is measured in degrees of crankshaft rotation.
