Dynamic braking
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001933
A braking system on railway vehicles where the traction motors are used as generators to convert the train's kinetic energy into electrical energy. This electrical energy is then dissipated as heat through resistors or returned to the overhead line (regenerative braking). Dynamic braking reduces wear on friction brakes and can save energy.
