Dyke

A tabular body of igneous rock that cuts across the layering or fabric of the surrounding rock. These intrusions form when magma fills a fracture and solidifies, creating a wall-like structure. Dykes can vary in thickness from a few centimeters to several meters and often serve as indicators of structural weaknesses in the Earth's crust.
