Engineer's chain

A historical measuring device consisting of 100 links, each one foot long, totaling 100 feet in length. Each link is connected by rings, and brass tags are often attached at specific intervals for easier reading. This chain was a standard tool for land surveying before the advent of steel tapes and electronic distance measurement.
