Engraving
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002043
The process of incising a design into a hard, flat surface, typically metal, to create a printing plate. Ink is then applied to the incised lines, and the surface is wiped clean before paper is pressed onto it, transferring the image. This technique produces fine, sharp lines and is used for high-quality prints, currency, and stamps.
